What we did here
Fifty-one square feet, an original cast-iron tub worth keeping, and a window in exactly the wrong place. Small baths are a genuinely interesting design problem rather than a small one, and the constraint here was that everything had to work around a fixture that was not moving.
The tub was refinished in place, which meant the floor structure under it never had to be disturbed and the plumbing kept its original drain location. Everything else in the room moved.
A house from 1954 gets federal lead-paint work practice on any surface that is disturbed, including the window — window replacement is covered regardless of how small the area is, which is the part most contractors get wrong.
